Microsoft will continue to deploy Office Server

The Redmond firm has understood that not all users and companies are still inclined to switch to a Cloud-first model that Office 365 and Azure would be the basis. Microsoft will, therefore, continue to deploy the standard versions of the MS Office Server suite at a slower pace than before.

As for Skype for Business Server 2019, the version will be well maintained but new developments regarding Skype Enterprise will impact the Office 365 users. Indeed Microsoft has clearly indicated its desire to minimize Skype for business in the Office 365 suite in favor of the new tool Microsoft Teams. The new Teams collaboration platform should, therefore, serve as a cornerstone for the Office 365 suite and assume the functions of Skype for business. Users of the Skype for Business Server IP telephony platform will not be impacted by this new orientation.
